Wisconsin/Macomb Trip

Date July 16, 2008

On the way to Madison, we’ll stop in big city Macomb, Illinois to visit the Dilgers and let Vered chill (she can’t do a seven hour car trip yet). Here’s what I’m bringing for the visit:

  •  Three Floyds Dark Lord (courtesy of Thomas)
  • Three Floyds Blackheart English IPA
  • Monk’s Flemish Sour Red
  • Smuttynose Baltic Porter
  • Deschutes The Abyss
  • North Coast Le Merle
  • Lost Abbey Inferno

That’s an awesome load. Lucky friends!

I have a couple of bottles of Dark Lord from last year. Dark Lord Day is an amazing experience. Thousands of people congregating to share beer and (mediocre) BBQ. Even though the food was lame, there was barrel aged Dark Lord on tap, so all was good. Besides, we had made a stop in Marshall, MI (didn’t get over to Dark Horse, though) and ate a really good 50s style diner.

I want to try The Abyss. And would be interested in the Blackheart – is that a new one for 3Fs? Hopefully, you’ll bring back some good stuff from WI. New Glarus Brewing Co!

Dark Lord is great (see previous post or two). I reckon next year I’ll go to Dark Lord Day with a night before stop maybe at Floosmorr Station. The Blackheart may be new….it was new to me when I saw it in Indiana and bought some. A nice English style ale. The Abyss….mighty. Very mighty. This bottle I note is my last one.
